Carole Lieberman, M.D., M.P.H., internationally renowned as ‘The Terrorist Therapist’, is a Board Certified Beverly Hills psychiatrist, 3-time Emmy honored television personality, radio talk show host, best-selling author and professional speaker. Since 9/11, recognizing that what the world needs most is help coping with the ultimate monster under the bed… terrorism, Dr. Carole has devoted herself to encouraging people to break through their denial and giving them the psychological tools they need to survive. She began by creating the first Terrorist Stress Hotline, and then the first Shrink On Board, a relaxation audio-video program for airline in-flight entertainment, which soothes fears in the air and on the ground. Born and raised in New York City, Dr. Carole was graduated with Honors in Psychology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. She received her M.D. degree from L’Ecole de Medecine at l’Universite de Louvain in Belgium. She then trained at the New York Infirmary and NYU-Bellevue, where she was Chief Resident in Psychiatry. Dr. Carole also studied in London at Anna Freud’s Hampstead Clinic and at the Institute of Psychiatry/Maudsley Hospital. Awarded an NIMH grant, for research on how to use the media for public health education, Dr. Carole concurrently attained a Masters degree from the UCLA School of Public Health. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and has served on the Clinical Faculty at UCLA’s Neuropsychiatric Institute for decades.
Dr. Carole’s work has not only garnered Emmy honors, but also numerous other awards, such as from the Writers Guild of America, City of Los Angeles, and Film Advisory Board. Her books have won literary awards at the New York Book Festival, London Book Festival and Beach Book Festival. Cosmopolitan magazine chose her as one of the nation’s “top therapists.” And she is listed in numerous Who’s Who directories.
